VCPUSD Trustee Area

Rebalancing the Trustee Area Boundary Maps

With the arrival of the updated 2020 United States Census data, the Valley Center-Pauma Unified School District, with the guidance of Cooperative Strategies, is working to adjust the boundaries of the VCPUSD Trustee Areas to ensure that each area represents about the same proportion of the total population, in accordance with Education Code 5019.5.

District consultant Cooperative Strategies presented its demographic findings to the Governing Board on December 15, 2021, when the board learned that a statistically significant population variance had developed since the previous U.S. Census, thus requiring a re-balancing of Trustee Areas. Cooperative Strategies and their team of demographers then created conceptual scenarios that were presented to the Governing Board to consider at its meeting on January 13, 2022. Both draft maps and related demographic data are linked below.

To ensure that deadlines established by the California Education Code are met, the Board of Trustees will consider and adopt new Trustee Area maps at its regularly scheduled meeting on February 10, 2022, at 6 p.m. at the Valley Center High School Media Center. Once adopted, the new Trustee Area maps will be submitted to the San Diego County Registrar of Voters, and the new Trustee Areas will be in effect for the general election in November of 2022.
