VCPUSD has moved to an Online Registration (OLR) Enrollment process to make joining our district easier and faster. All required forms and documents can now be uploaded directly into the application.

Enrollment Timeline & Eligibility

We encourage you to register your child by June 5, 2026, to help us determine facility needs. Many of our schools fill their classes quickly; enrolling early is the best way to ensure a spot for your child at their neighborhood school.

Transitional Kindergarten: Child must be 4 years old on or before September 1.

Kindergarten: Child must be 5 years old on or before September 1. If you are a returning family, please go through the parent portal for new student enrollment.

Enrollment Procedures

1. Complete Online Enrollment Application

Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete all enrollment information as accurately as possible. To expedite the registration process and ensure a smooth transition into VCPUSD, parents and/or guardians will complete the following digitally within the online portal:

  • Enrollment Form

  • Household / Emergency / Disaster Priority Release Form

  • Current Student Health Information

  • Residency Verification Form

  • Signature Verification of Receipt of Documents/Release of Information

2. Required 7th Grade Information

Tdap Booster/Vaccine Required to start the school year for all 7th grade students entering advancing or transferring into 7th grade.

3. Birth/Age Verification

Birth Certificate/Passport is required upon enrollment to verify student's Birth Information.

4. Proof of Residency

Please gather the following documents in advance. As part of the Online Enrollment application, you will be required to complete a digital Residency Verification form and upload clear copies of these original documents.

All school districts in California have been advised that the State Controller’s Office will rigorously enforce Title V (Administrative Code) and Education Code provisions for verification of residency of all enrolling students.

Option 1: One of the following documents provides sufficient verification:

  • Deed to a home in parent name showing address within District;

  • Escrow papers for a home in parent name showing address within District;

  • Tax receipt (property taxes or personal property taxes) in parent name showing address within District;

  • An approved inter-district transfer agreement;

  • Verification by Special Education Director of student receiving special education SELPA services;

  • Home visitation by Superintendent or designee to verify residency;

  • Official letter from Tribal chairperson to verify residency.

Option 2: A minimum of two (2) different verification items are necessary if the following documents are used:

  • Driver’s license or state ID card with picture showing current address (no temporaries). If the address has been changed, this cannot be accepted. (Actual street address needed, PO Box will not be accepted).

  • AND one of the following in parent name showing address within District:

    • a. Rental agreement

    • b. Rent receipt (for latest month)

    • c. Voter registration card

  • AND one of the following showing parent/guardian’s name and address of residence within District:

    • a. Deposit receipt for gas, electric, phone, or water service start-up

    • b. Most recent utility bill for gas, electric, phone, or water service

    • c. Notarized affidavit from property owner confirming residency

  • AND one of the following showing parent/guardian’s name and address of residence within District:

    • a. Major moving company receipt for moving household goods

    • b. Receipt from local firm showing delivery of newly purchased major appliance or furniture piece(s)

Migrant Students: Any student who is identified as a migrant (any student identified as homeless will be considered the same as a migrant student) and who does not reside in a permanent fixed residence shall be admitted upon presentation of one of the following:

  • a. Letter from a social service agency verifying the family is migrant and is residing within the district

  • b. Hotel or motel receipts

c. Migrant affidavit and visitation by district employee to the location currently being used as a “residence” by the family.

5. Immunization Requirements for School Entry

Immunization Records: State Law requires a verification record of immunizations document be provided to the school prior to school admittance. Note: Children must be fully immunized even if they are not yet five years old in order to start in August, 2023.

8. Additional Documents To Bring (if applicable)

  • Copy of approved Interdistrict (must contact Superintendent's Office for approval) or  Intradistrict Transfer request. This only applies to those students who applied and were granted either an Interdistrict or Intradistrict permit.

  • Court / Legal documents

  • Copy of student’s IEP. (If student was in Special Education or Resource)

  • Student’s most recent report card, transcript, and schedule from previous school

  • Check out slip from previous school (textbooks returned to previous school)

  • If your child has been previously enrolled in a GATE (gifted and talented education) class, please provide letter stating that your child has been identified as a GATE student.
